12 by 16, Oil on Linen I was really nervous painting this one. This made it hard to do a solid start and block-in. Eventually I was able to put some paint in the right places. I guess hiring a model to pose for a painting for the first time made me nervous. If the painting had just completely fallen apart the session would have been a waste of time and money... thinking about that was enough to make me nervous. Anyway- any comments or thoughts on the painting are greatly appreciated.

Alla Prima sketch

This sketch was done yesterday and it was done in natural light. I changed my start to finish process for this one. I took some steps from a Schmid demo dvd and some others from a Lipking demo from a magazine. The final stage looks best in almost direct light... and it's hard to see the butter- like quality of the paint in a photo. I also think the final stage is a bit over-worked and that there are some drawing issues.

Old Alla Prima Oil Sketch

I didn't have time to finish this one because the model had to be somewhere. I think I painted it at least one/ one and a half months ago. It was painted under artificial light. I decided to put this one up because I made some discoveries while doing it. I also feel that I made some progress in my painting ability with this one.
